Our philosophy

The site knows more than the drawing.

We begin with a year of observation — light, water, wind, soil, and the way people already move through a place. What follows is not imposed on the landscape. It is recovered from it.

Restraint is not austerity. Fewer materials, fewer gestures and larger volumes of what remains are the only reliable route to calm. It is also the only way a landscape ages well.

The studio

A design practice that builds its own drawings.

Spacial Integrity Landscapes is led by David — landscape architect, master planner and builder. Design and construction sit under one roof because drawings are promises, and building our own work is how we keep them.

Traditional trades are held in house wherever possible: drystone walling, timber, planting, groundworks. The standard of the site is the standard of the drawing office.

Community impact

Landscape is the most patient form of public health we have.

Through Spacial Communities we work with autism support services, mental health teams, schools, churches, volunteer groups and disability organisations — as a distinct division, so this work is never a by-product of spare commercial capacity.

One philosophy. Many divisions. A model that outlives its founder.

What began as a landscape design and construction practice is becoming an interconnected ecosystem: care and maintenance, a social sector division, an ecological and heritage design brand, specialist construction, and eventually a replicable regional model.

Each division stands on its own. All of them answer to the same standard.
